0:00
[Music] already cancelled already canell are we
0:07

0:19

0:25
and today's guest oh this guy is exciting I I'm super excited to have this guy on the air he's uh he's done uh
0:32
Survivor Australia twice yep twice I don't I feel weird saying runner
0:39
up twice I kind of want to say two time finalist two time finalist that's a better way to say two time finalist uh
0:45
uh he's got his book out released late last year called How to Win Friends and manipulate people excellent book uh he's
0:51
been featured on the New York Times as well for best TV episodes of 2023 is that right yeah that's correct and
0:57
there's a long list of accolades that George uh [Music] his majesty King George I was about to
1:03
get to that AKA King George of bankstown is that right or was it just King George oh King George is fine but I am I am of
1:11
bankstown he is of very very proud to be from bankstown as well part great part
1:17
of Australia can I ask you a question George cuz I've watched this season but I don't actually recall that when when you got titled King George was that
1:25
given to you or was that self-proclaimed no it wasn't self-proclaimed so what happened um I had a very kind of
1:31
interesting Dynamic on my brain's trime and um it didn't suit me so I came out
1:37
guns blazing to destroy everything around me as quickly as possible and rebuild it in my vision and um I think
1:45
around episode five or six I found a hidden immunity idol yeah I whipped it
1:51
out flung it on my chest it's now tattooed on me over here yeah I and then then I told myself I'm going to let the
1:58
rats run so so I walked across the Dead River Bank lied on the edge of a cliff
2:04
and I was just waving at everyone and they're going what are you doing and in that kind of like Anarchy that I needed
2:10
to create right they stupidly voted off my number one enemy who wanted me gone at all cost as if it was going to upset
2:17
me it was like the best thing that could possibly happen for me and um as I was
2:22
waving at them like you see it back on camera you had Laura one of a good friend of mine in an xplayer in the
2:28
Survivor Community she was was like look at King George over there lying down on his throne so once once I heard them
2:36
calling me King George like you only need to throw a bone at me and I'll run with him and then I'm like ah God save
2:43
our gracious King I love this I love this now I'm actually a new person to Survivor a new fan I've never never
2:50
watched it until this year www.1 playay doc. that's right yes exactly right I
2:56
even got it on my phone now too now YZ showed me a clip late last year of you in episode seven of the Heroes versus
3:03
Villains that's right yeah and I was like what the hell's going on here it was a complete breakdown now if can we
3:09
just explain Survivor a little bit if no one's like people we broadcast like broadcast but we go we have a lot of
3:14
international fans as well I know I know survivors across the across the world but if anyone hasn't seen it explain it
3:21
in nutshell don't don't look at me let George explain it I think survivor really reflects reality and um people
3:29
that don't what survivor think it's about like physical strength and whatnot and we've got the current season airing
3:34
on 10 and 10 play in Australia and throughout the world Titans V Rebels and what we've seen in the first week is a
3:41
real evolution in the game where they're focusing on politics alliances and
3:46
social dynamics and really the goal of Survivor is um how you get to the end
3:54
and you have people get voted out um and it's basically a game of politics that
3:59
would be the short answer for it so on an island it's a game of politics in
4:05
harsh conditions where people's truest versions of themselves come out and then
4:11
the game happens but you can strategically play this game of course by a lot of bitching well it's a lot of
4:18
everything the thing is it's like people have different value systems so when you bring your kind of like life context and
4:24
experience in a difficult environment that's when you see who you are as a person and how how you react with like a
4:33
guillotine hanging over your head ready to go vushka is what happens on Survivor
4:38
when someone has to get voted out and that kind of like pressure cooker situation it's just fascinating
4:44
television and that's why it's the biggest show in the US it's the the most
4:49
passionate engaged following of any TV show in Australia and it's why it's been around
4:55
for more than 90 seasons in the english- speaking world world crazy it's
5:00
ridiculous and that's the English speaking World cuz it's like almost every country in the world has their own version of Survivor yeah and I find it
5:06
interesting that you say like and it's true it's like when you put in a pressure cooker like that the truest form of people like it comes out
5:12
naturally because you want to survive at the end of the day that's why it's called Survivor but I'm so curious prior to Survivor and you know being on TV and
5:20
doing all this stuff like what makes you go onto a show like that like what were you doing prior for you to then go hey
5:27
you know what I would kill it well for me I would prior to Survivor I was a political staffer and um I was quite active in the
5:33
labor party in in bankstown so you were in politics you already doing all that I worked in politics I was never a
5:40
candidate and um I closed that kind of like politically active chapter in my life about a year and a half ago now but
5:47
what made me want to go on a TV show simple it was Survivor um but I I talk a
5:52
little bit about this in my book so I had two favorite shows growing up as a kid in Western Sydney it was surviv in
5:58
The Amazing Race and I love both and then you've done The Amazing Race and I've done the Amazing Race it was um
6:04
also available on 10 play um he get paid $5 for every
6:09
time it's why 10 keep feeding me work but um yeah so I um me and my twin
6:16
brother were going to be on season 2 of The Amazing Race Australia when we both 21 that was about 13 years ago and um
6:23
without kind of realizing it then we smashed the entire kind of like audition process the thing you go through in a TV
6:32
process and um we completely [ __ ] up the final interview we were at the stage where we filled in every visa and
6:39
whatnot and then um like in life you grow as a as a human and and whatnot and
6:45
um we just sat there and we froze and that kind of like stuck with me for so long I was like I really wanted to be on
6:51
The Amazing Race whatever and then what do you mean you froze like you couldn't answer the question essentially hi Aisha
6:57
tell me a little about yourself and then the response was cricket you know oh no
7:04
you know what that is that's just overuse of the brain you would have had a million things going in your head and then it's just like my my twin brother
7:10
is not like me at all so it was like he froze I froze you have a twin I have a
7:15
twin I had no idea that you I did not know that yeah tical no not identical
7:20
okay no is he bigger or is he bigger than you or small tall and skinny tall we actually triplets but one died in the
7:26
worm it's very sad that's un that is very sad I feel like I ate her and she's
7:31
the scar on my chest H well what scar you say you ate her feels like who knows
7:37
but you know what that's happened a lot my um I think my one of like my
7:42
brother's uh fiance I think she ate her twin that's not a thing they're not eating each other no but she said she
7:48
ate her twin and now you're saying you ate one of your triplets oh who knows it was in the wom well yeah I'm pretty sure
7:54
babies don't get onto solids until uh like year in or some [ __ ] what the
8:00
hell's wrong with you people well moral of the story is this I didn't feel the need to go on a TV show but come season
8:07
4 of Australian Survivor it's airing on TV it's late 2019 I've been a public servant for 3
8:14
years I'm bored I've got a great work life balance after not being a political staffer anymore and I went imagine [ __ ]
8:21
this I think I can do a better job than all of them and then I just applied and I got on Wow except covid-19 happened
8:27
and I didn't get on but then they picked up the process about 9 months later and that's when and that's when you went to the Australian Outback right we did did
8:35
not go to we were going to go to Fiji I've been told afterwards that it was all locked and loaded we'll go to Fiji
8:41
I'd done everything and then sco shot the ball happened and that was brains verse Brawn it would have been another
8:47
brains V Brawn yeah the the ghost season that never happened but then it did happen in 2021 of course here's the
8:53
thing right CU you look at where um Survivor uh hosts the games which countries which islands and all that
8:59
stuff I feel like the Outback cuz I did in the outback because I'm assuming it has something to do with Co and traveling all that go overseas the
9:05
Outback looked [ __ ] it was [ __ ] like I've I've been I've been in Samoa is
9:11
tough because what Samoa is is wet and humid they like in Som your clothes are
9:17
always damp and it rains torrentially for 1 or two hours a day basically every
9:22
single day and it's it's hard but do you know what Samoa has it has warmth
9:28
relative warmth at night and during the day or you walk in a beautiful ocean
9:33
that's just missing the resort and it's kind of that mental resent you don't get that in concurring in the desert in you
9:41
know you just get it's all dry 3 hours 3 hours somewhere out of Mount Isa and it's 45° during the day and 2° at night
9:49
and you're wearing a t-shirt and shorts you know so how did you stay with this fire really fire and cuddling oh it was
9:55
exactly that and but we were like right on top of the fire cuz we were like Frozen in in the outback it was just the
10:02
I I am adamant that that season that we filmed brains V BW in 21 was the
10:08
harshest location anywhere worldwide ever it l yeah I can only imagine has anyone ever been through the Outback no
10:16
I've I've I've driven from Sydney to Perth it took me 5 days and I remember
10:21
driving to the point where you're going like at least 120 and it feels like you're going 40 km an hour because
10:28
you've been going 12 for that long well unfortunately George didn't have the luxury of a car at the time I don't know
10:35
what's worse yeah I I'd reckon sleeping on the desert floor with [ __ ] snakes around you well we had we had eastern
10:42
brown snakes at one night um we had an eastern brown snake Slither into our
10:47
shelter and that was the exact same time that um Georgia was having a medical
10:53
episod oh no yeah so she's on the floor in like horrific pain she ended up having a topic pregnant which is really
11:00
sad um and then you hear one of The Producers we're all on top of her in the shelter and the producers like everybody
11:08
freeze and we're like what is it and she goes snake and then God and then
11:14
literally it's like 50 cm away from her this eastern brown snake slithering by we're all about like half a meter away
11:20
from it and we're like holy [ __ ] oh wrongly so can I can I find out so how
11:27
like we only see obviously what's on camera how many how many producers and
11:32
production team is behind that camera it I I I I think it's weird on
11:37
Survivor because that's kind of like your world and that's what you're exposed to and you hit the point I would
11:43
say the first time I played it's different the second time you're used to it but the first time I played it's they're like the flies that move around
11:49
in the background cuz they don't speak to you um the only time that you have an interaction with a producer is when you
11:57
are having your confessional film you're 101 and the interaction is hi
12:03
Aisha tell me about that time when y did XYZ in Camp and and then it's just like
12:09
it's not there's no friendly basis there's no are they trying to like like I'm sure as a typical producer and we've
12:16
worked with so many across different content radio whatever right are they they're obviously wanting to get certain
12:22
answers out of you right well it's a TV show and I think what worked for me is I
12:28
was a good story tell so when I get asked a question I answer it but I I
12:34
think like having been my former um member of parliament's Boss media
12:39
adviser as well it was like an all-encompassing job I was used to writing a media release and writing T
12:45
snazzy lines and getting a phone call at 5:00 a.m. going I'm on live radio drive time and I need what what am I saying on
12:53
this issue and then I'm having like a debate and a mind exchange with my boss
12:58
at 5 in the morning on what is the line that you know AM radio is going to use
13:05
on a State political issue so when I went out there my mind was programmed on
13:11
L and this is how you answer a question yeah which is just what you're supposed
13:17
to do on a TV show so did I think I was going to break a world time record for airtime on a reality TV show no I I
13:26
didn't think that but you did right but I did and and then and then what it what it
13:31
kind of what I realized is what was working for me is what worked through the audition process I never deviated
13:37
from who I was as a person and it made a good TV show and when I hear so many
13:42
people that go on reality TV shows and they talk about the edit and AirTime this and that the reality of the
13:49
situation is I'm sorry darling TV is not meant for you cuz it's not meant for everyone I was I was waiting for that to
13:55
go I'm sorry darling you're boring like I was waiting that's how it is that like like a lot of people nowadays they're so
14:02
kind of like used to social media and that's not how TV gets consumed no it's not and you can control and manicure a
14:10
personality and your image on social media but you can't fake that when
14:16
you've got cameras filming you 24/7 no exactly if your personality [ __ ] then
14:21
you're not going to get much of a run on a TV show you know when you like like certain TV shows like I don't know like the first thing that comes in my head is
14:26
like maths right and I'm assuming that when you have to do season never heard of when you have to do season after
14:33
season is it such thing as paid actors like you know on Survivor Survivor I
14:38
don't know about maths maths Math's a bit different but Survivor is like the OG reality TV show where the players
14:45
generate the content you see that's good not the producers the players generate the cont okay that's a good that's a good way to look at it then a good way
14:51
to look at it if I talk to you in Camp and then I'm constructing an ID or a vote with you or a move or whatnot I'm
14:58
doing that and and then do you know what you do then you walk up to a box and you write down a name so the players control
15:06
reality on a reality TV show I don't know I have not seen a second of maths
15:11
it's a rival show to Survivor and I encourage everyone never to see a no I get that but you know what though
15:18
I like that was the first example that came to my mind but there's many reality TV shows that I watch and sometimes some
15:24
characters seem so unbelievable that I'm like surely it's either they've been paid to
15:31
do this or they're getting extra or getting something additional for acting that certain way 100 I want to touch on
15:38
I want to touch on because in the game it's it's like you said you and I would have a conversation then we'd both go
15:44
right an name down there's a there's an element of manipulation in there there's an element of of um persuasion and you were really
15:52
good at doing that um the the the scenes I saw that y showed me of you you literally broke apart an alliance in 5
15:58
minutes at a tribal at a tribal council which was really impressive if you actually watch the show and get into it it's like that is the skill you need
16:05
yeah when you're going through this on how to win you even went out and then wrote a book about it I did yes please
16:11
when you're sitting how to win and manipulate FR people How to Win Friends and manipulate people now this is obviously like it's a
16:17
it's I I've flicked through a little bit of it when you when you're putting this into let's go firstly into
16:25
Survivor what what's going through your head like are you thinking of strategies in your mind to how to manipulate this
16:32
person because you're looking at like what's the process here do you do you look at their their ethics their morals
16:37
how they react in certain situations knowing how what to say how to say how to turn someone against someone else
16:43
what's your process in manipulating a person to make a decision I I talk about
16:49
this in my book in terms of um what to kind of look for in a situation so
16:56
firstly people are scared of the word manipulation when they shouldn't be manipulation is only a negative if only
17:04
one party benefits like the manipulator manipulates the manipulate without
17:09
getting too technical like that um but if you make a situation work for you and
17:14
the other party you have manipulated that situation but if it's the win-win outcome then it works for both of you
17:23
and that was really the secret to my Survivor game so yes I manipulate ated
17:28
people but when I offered people a deal it was a great deal for them and in most
17:35
cases it was better for them than it was for me but I made the situation work for me and how do I do that I I run through
17:42
this in my book in um you know I use stories and examples um from my life
17:47
from Survivor um it's an entertainment book it's not an it's not an academic book like it's a fun easy read um but you
17:54
really have to work out people's intent priorities and motivation and if you can work that out through
18:01
facts through guessing um through working out like the probability of something happening you've got the edge
18:07
in the situation and if you can make it work for both of you you can manipulate the situation where you get a good
18:13
outcome for yourself and for the other party and then it's a win-win can we just stop for a second just smash these
18:19
it's giving me anxiety staring at it well cheers everyone cheers for George being here I need a chaser e let me see
18:26
your faces first I don't think you need a is it clean is it hot that's nice you got to try it yet it's not hot it's got
18:33
a nice aftertaste it's delicious okay that wasn't as bad as I thought it was exactly so Ken last year obviously um he
18:40
he wasn't a fan of Survivor he wasn't really watching it religiously as he is um this year um and for me to sell him
18:46
on the show cuz I wanted him to watch the new season I showed him um the episode with you Georgie Return of the
18:52
King episode 7 season 8 Australian Survivor um and that's the one where you the easiest way to say it is is you
18:59
brain [ __ ] Simon so hard M to essentially put a gun to his head and
19:05
pull the trigger for his game right this episode was written up by the
19:10
New York Times as one of the best TV episodes of 2023 and that's across all TV across it's the New York Times it's
19:18
across every episode in the world right um and not just Australian Survival TV in general um I happen to notice that
19:25
this was written up during your time in America George who did you get drunk
19:32
did you manipulate anyone did you use your powers in New York to manipulate anyone so um my my um timeline I piece
19:42
this together I was in Vegas I wake up I see you know I see this article come up and I'm like oh that's good that's great
19:49
article but I'm like why has this person written this and then I'm thinking 2 days before I was at the Survivor 45
19:57
finale and they have really huge Survivor parties in the US and I was invited to go and it was great
20:02
I had a good time um and at this party I was doing a few fun things I had a tube
20:08
of Veggie M putting it on people's fingers going would you like to eat some like oh Hayden but the other thing I was
20:13
doing like I have with you is buying people tequila shots because YOLO why
20:19
not I'm in the US and they like tequila so um I'm I think I bought that
20:24
journalist at tequila Shan I don't know for sure [ __ ] you knew um I had no I swear to God I had no idea but um I'm
20:31
telling myself I'm always nice to fans particularly the ones that are engaged and um yeah God Save the
20:38
King but you know why you know I understand that you're probably like oh why was it written up it really was some
20:43
of the best TV I've seen in a very very long time yeah that's right and I don't really watch TV but when I saw that I
20:49
was like I you know what I'm I'll be honest I actually watched it again last night oh did that scene I fell asleep to
20:55
it like I was watching it I was watching it I was like like oh my God I can sleep well tonight because I just can't get
21:00
enough of the show so I had to go back to your season now and I went specifically I messaged you I was like what was the SE the episode again and I
21:07
went and watched that episode again and it's hard to like jump in at at se at episode seven on that but because I
21:13
understand the game and I know you were coming in today I was like I have to just I just want to see it again and the beauty of that cuz I'm obsessed with the
21:19
tri Council section can't even it was that much of a of a brain [ __ ] George that I won't even be able to explain it here for the listeners so what I'll do
21:25
I'll put a link in the description so people can actually watch for themselves you go into this and everyone's
21:31
perception of It ultimately in the beginning it's a game right but then you go in things happen and people get
21:37
backstabbed and all that stuff after the show is done is there like and you said you all friends which I find really
21:43
interesting but is there any bad blood between people after the show that they just can't seem to reconcile because of
21:50
what happened in the show I think your friends were the people that you're friends with in there and
21:55
um the the the funny think sorry let me tequil there so I think you're friends
22:03
with the people that are out there and the funny thing um about me and Simon is
22:09
um yes I very much so antagonized him at that Tribal Council yeah um and he he he
22:18
he was very harsh on me in cam particularly in the first two weeks and then it eased off to be fair to him um
22:24
but I I never had an issue with him personally and then I I know when we were at Jury Villa
22:31
together like all we were talking about particularly me to him cuz he thought I hated his guts I was like Simon this is
22:36
going to be the best season ever and our story is going to be one of the greatest survivor arcs and narratives worldwide
22:43
ever and he's like Oh I thought you hated my guts I'm like no it's a game I'm like you're the fool that kept
22:48
trying to vote me off when I'm offering you peace but that was your life decision um I I think in terms of just
22:54
like a more friendship you're really friends with the people that you allies within the game and Friends within the game everyone else is like the old work
23:01
colleague if you see each other you see each other you're amicable you're amicable yeah unless like something huge
23:07
happened you know so how has how has Survivor changed your life though so you've done two episodes you've obviously gone on and done you know
23:12
Australia's Got uh sorry um aming Amazing Race what how has your life
23:17
changed since doing that oh it it changed completely I started um working
23:23
in the kind of like entertainment and media space and then I made a life call in 21 where I you know ironically the
23:30
day before I got made a ongoing public servant I got the job for life I could
23:35
have sat in that seat government job [ __ ] for life [ __ ] you know and it's
23:42
a comfy seat I'm just say I was like but I'm bored as batshit yeah and I was like
23:49
I told myself if I hustle I think I can make this work and then God willing for
23:57
me it has worked so um I that's what I did and then in in the one gear that
24:03
followed which was um 2022 um it was a hustle and a grind but I look at myself like a business yeah
24:10
and any business that starts you have to start small work out what works and what
24:16
doesn't and then take it from there and then when I go back to 2023 I was on three TV shows um my
24:24
season of Survivor you know recorded The Amazing Race Australia um I wrote and released a book I had my
24:31
dog on Dogs behaving very badly I was the face of that show which had like huge ratings on network 10 and you
24:37
should watch that on 10 play as well $5 baby I did four overseas trip um you
24:44
know three of them that were work rated one of them was just a fun holiday to Eurovision and going to Italy and I've
24:51
had the best year of my life how did you fit that all in one year yeah and and then I was doing like other kind of like
24:58
Consulting boring work as well so it's just like you if if if you back yourself
25:04
I think in any aspect of life that kind of like self-belief self-drive and
25:10
self-confidence will get you there 100% 100% age you've gone from you've gone
25:15
from Suits to Simone and shirts well I've I've gone from basically I'd gone from a pen Pusher yeah or like a brief
25:23
writer at a government agency to someone that is a TV personality and would I
25:28
have thought that like during Co or in 2017 never in a [ __ ] million years
25:34
and tell us so you that you see the the brand the building the business the entertainment side how's it going on the
25:40
side of you know relationships or you know things like that person life you found you found like you're more sought
25:47
out now oh I I think so I think so but I think it's hard because it's just like is this person trying to talk to you
25:53
because they know you from a TV show or are they generally out how do you figure that out think you can quite quickly so
26:01
like I was I I was single for about like 4 years and then um I may be in a
26:08
relationship so we'll see how we're going exciting yeah but I was single for quite a long time but that was by choice
26:15
you know like particularly when I'd made such a big life decision um just to change what I was doing from a
26:21
career-wise because you know I've got a law degree I was probably one of the best political staffers in New South wal
26:26
State politics I had a very cushy job in the public sector and then I said no I'm not interested in that I'm going to hustle
26:33
and give this a go okay I like that that's awesome two times finalist George on Survivor my question to you would you
26:39
do it again I am very happy to be the commentator for AUST strali Survivor on
26:44
channel 10 so I'm you know I I did that for season 7 which was two seasons ago
26:51
um I didn't do it last year cuz I was on the show and then I'm very thankful that um Network 10 asked me to be a co-host
26:59
uh for talking tribal which is on 10 play and then um I I I look at
27:06
Australian Survivor and it's my baby it's something that I'm proud of um I I I love it and then you know I'm I'm a
27:12
legacy player um and I couldn't be more delighted um by that um do I need to
27:19
play again that's a it's a question I'll answer if I get that phone call yeah okay do you do you feel like being a
27:25
past player and one of the most dangerous players uh in the game do you think you have a chance to even make it
27:30
past let's say the second week of Survivor but I did in s so no one went in there with a bigger Target than me
27:37
and almost every single person um pregamed against me which unfortunately
27:42
happens on returning season yeah um but pregaming doesn't work um and there's
27:48
one way to deal with a Threat Level it's through reason and if like that's not a
27:53
valid concern for me um because I live through that in Soma yeah so tell us i' I've I'm sure
28:01
that these skills that you've built in manipulation and and that that you you do ethically uh they can benefit you in
28:09
so many different things in business they've helped you in the game they've helped you with your political career um you know just normal everyday
28:16
interactions does it help you in like I don't know playing poker or games like that does that does that well you've
28:22
mentioned poker a few times on the show right well I definitely mentioned poker and um I am am I Semi-Pro poker player I
28:28
think I am I think I feel like um I've Loved poker since I was 18 I think the first time I met you guys was that um a
28:35
WPT series at don't tell anyone I play poker my family don't know no yeah
28:41
that's that's actually where I first met George do you know what's interesting about poker you meet people from all walks of life and do like sometimes
28:49
people skills they really do get developed where did I develop mine I worked at Kmart bankstown I worked at
28:55
phone tab you know I I used to do charity phone calls for vision Australia
29:00
the the charity for um people that live with blindness in Australia um so it's
29:06
just like you combine that with you know I I didn't work the last two years of my law degree I was hustling on the APO
29:13
poker circuit and then I started working and then when you work in politics um you don't have much free time and then
29:20
when I start kind of like building that when I give myself a good work life balance with a kushy government job um
29:27
and then you know I I'm telling myself last year I'd like to play more poker so I started doing the Australian circuit
29:33
we've got one of the most kind of like highest caliber poker players in the
29:39
entire world here you go to Vegas and the field is soft you know the the players aren't as
29:46
experienced and not tactical they don't work out the odds so um I had a great
29:51
year last year yeah um I didn't win a like a a category circuit but I had I
29:57
think three five figure collects which I was very happy with five figures that's
30:02
massive yeah you can look at look me up on handen Mob it's always a public record mob that sounds like a porno
30:08
website is it no it's not no that would be funny though that's look poker poker is a very it's a very Niche game a lot
30:14
of people don't understand it people assume it's just gambling completely F people assume that it's all these Rebels
30:20
kind of playing you know bik is and whatnot but it's skill it's skill I'm assuming I've I don't play but I I have
30:27
two poker chapters in my book poker is about two things it's about mathematics and it's about uh the human element and
30:35
if you can work out the odds and combine that with playing the person um and
30:40
knowing the statistics of you winning or the probability of you winning you'll you'll be where I'm at which is at least
30:47
an Adept player that will run better more often than not yeah am I a pro no
30:54
um I feel like my face would just give it away I'd love to like you know do a few overseas trips this year and just
31:00
keep you know cashing at these tournaments invite me with you Geor CU I'd love to go Cambodia cambodia's got
31:06
big games they do they have like a 1 million USD first prize shut the [ __ ] up
31:12
it's this week though we missed it maybe we'll go Philippines in 3 months you just let me know and I'll and you book the flights with your winnings and we'll
31:18
go you've got a podcast to do yes uh just real quick as well your uh
31:23
your heritage let's talk about that so it's uh Greek and Macedon M um how much of your heritage comes through in you in
31:30
this day and age do you do you find yourself still you know connecting with your your culture culture well my I
31:37
think my culture is Australian and you compare that with a Heritage that's Macedonian and Greek so I'm I'm very
31:44
proud of my Heritage um and I think um people um shouldn't lose kind of like
31:51
track of they they're kind of like the upbringing and the values and I think
31:57
culture and Heritage plays a lot in that and um I think being a being a [ __ ] if
32:03
you want to use the word um there are things that bind and that's like family
32:08
and friends and sticking up for people and sticking together and I I I think
32:13
particularly living in Western Sydney where you're always surrounded by second third first generation Australians
32:20
that's why we have a very different mentality and take on life where it's you know no [ __ ] more direct more
32:28
Frank um you know better that's how I look at it yeah I like that so let's
32:33
let's encapsulate everything about you so I mean part of your self-care and personal growth you've built um a
32:42
understanding of what you talk about in this book is is ways to benefit yourself but also benefit other people I like
32:48
through manipulation uh it sounds weird when you put those two it is right but if you
32:53
make if you if you make a situation work better for you and it's still works for the other side you shouldn't be ashamed
32:58
of that negotiation at the end of I feel like you manipulate me a lot I manipulate everyone around I got to I
33:05
better not say isn't beneficial for the other party there is a lot of things that y would that's not sustainable on
33:10
the long term I feel like [ __ ] he just manipulated me and not just me my wife as well oh damn I really want to know
33:17
the text message now but couple days ago um no but here's the thing right if I was to get like caught out manipulating
33:23
right let's say I'm dating someone she's like you're manipulating me and then I turn around I say yeah yes darling but I'm manipulating you for the better of
33:29
you like it just sounds [ __ ] up yeah but I think that I think the point is is finding is is allowing her to come or
33:35
that your partner to come to the place where they know that it's if there's no win for her then it's bad manipulation
33:42
but if there's a win for her and the situation is beneficial for her and it's better for you she's not going to be
33:48
walking up to you going you manipulated me she'll be thinking it's the best deal in the world ever so it's all about the
33:53
deal the art of the deal the art of the deal yeah a master class George I should
33:58
honestly the master class of manipulation should I charge 10,000 plus GST I don't know how much they go for
34:05
how about we start with $30 $29 for the book that's the first opening open discount for from us um we we we we've
34:13
discovered that you may or may not be close to a secured relationship which is exciting for you and I'm sure that's
34:19
that's a hard thing to find especially uh after going through you know the Celebrity Status and the TV and all
34:24
these you know a lot of people coming up to you and having to dis distinguish between who's a real person you know what I mean who's a real one um your
34:31
career's changed over time um and it's been a big a big change from the boring
34:36
sort of pen pushing which I'm sure some people find that exciting yeah a lot of people um let's let's talk about um
34:43
you've traveled around the world as well you've um I'm sure the financial Wellness is doing quite well for
34:48
yourself thinking about the uh three five figure wins that's just on the one side of one stream um your fashion
34:56
selwin shirt that's changed you like that I think it's very fun I do like it's three is it
35:01
two buttons or one he's he's wearing a bowling shirt right now this is not the San shirt that's what I'm wearing on
35:07
talking tribal for the entire recording session that makes sense um health and fitness how are you staying healthy are
35:13
you are you a fit person a problem for me the last 12 months I think when I had my injury it really kind what injury um
35:20
I had an injur in episode one of Heroes V villains um that's why I have this face the head yeah but um what did you
35:28
do I um was pile drived from a box into the shallow ground F drived from a box
35:37
yes so he like he rolled off this top of the thing and then he went head first into some shallow water so and rock or
35:43
something I actually tell no we just hit the floor myself and uh Jackie Glazier my um the poker Pro friend of mine that
35:50
were on the same tribe so um I talk about this in my book so um Jackie had bone damage I had muscle Dam damage
35:57
which took a long time to get diagnosed after the game and then it turns into like other kind of like issues where
36:04
it's just like before I went into Samoa I had I was in like the best fitness of
36:10
my life I was like killing it at CrossFit you know I was you did CrossFit yeah I was how was that on the knees um
36:17
I think it's fine I never had any but it's just like when I go from that to not being able to like hold myself up
36:24
with my own body weight and then impingements and stuff like that I I've put on 20 kilos in the past 12 months
36:31
which is um not abnormal after Survivor but I I I have started going back to
36:37
CrossFit and I'll be going to CrossFit at 4:00 today and I'll slowly start
36:42
getting that routine again and building the strength awesome in my shoulder I hope I hope I'm sure you will you know
36:48
what GE I was watching you last night on uh talking tribal or the other night um and I actually complimented you out loud
36:55
and I said George look absolutely [ __ ] fantastic so um don't let your brain get to you I think you look great
37:01
yeah don't let you I don't think I look bad but it's I didn't [ __ ] say I did
37:07
not say that thanks yes but um no but I'm just um I I've got a bit more
37:13
cushion than I did uh before I played Survivor and had my injury but that's
37:19
I've had a good year like I also love food I love let's talk about that I mean have you tried popey's chicken yes yes
37:28
in your mouth sex in your mouth oh my God spicy popey's chicken it's just where did you
37:35
have it in the in the states of course in the stat yeah I was about to say I was like didn't get it here I've had it
37:40
in the Middle East and I've had it in the states the Middle East is great I didn't like the one in the states it was
37:45
too greasy for me no it was too greasy for me I had it in I had it in Englewood
37:51
California you know that nice suburb of La wood California I think it's the safest one of the safest suburbs in like
37:57
all these gun barriers you couldn't do takeaway and I was holding it a p but I got my popyes before I went to
38:02
LA and I ate it in the Uber and I just every city I was in I was getting Popeyes and then the one thing that made
38:09
me win an endurance Challenge on Survivor was KFC I won the KFC endurance challenge which was like a miracle um
38:16
cuz I used to love KFC but let me tell you now popey's blows it out of you tried Raising Canes no okay sorry it's
38:24
just a side question it's in America no no no it's in America it's like it's fried chicken right but like it's famous
38:29
and their videos go viral on Tik Tok and they have this like big cup dipping sauce and you get your Fried Chicken you
38:34
dip it in this dipping sauce and it's meant to be incredible and now there's a dupe version I think in penth here in in
38:41
love the dup version yeah but apparently it's like everyone saying it's amazing so do do you always get like take out or
38:47
you you do you cook do you cook what's your what's your famous me that you've cook Hing is a disaster for let me gu
38:52
rice and beans is that I do know how to cook rice and beans or rice lentils um
38:58
but I I tend to eat out a lot yeah but you've got this You' got this Greek Heritage this Macedonian Heritage you
39:04
you can't you can't take you haven't taken something to I find cooking very stressful like people are different
39:09
you've gone on [ __ ] Survivor yeah I would rather go on Survivor and do 94
39:14
days then buy enchiladas from Audi put them in the oven and then like I accidentally put olive oil on top and
39:20
everything turns into giant black smoke and then after that I'm like this is too much I'm just going to fair enough I'm
39:27
just either going to eat food that family members prepare or eat out the
39:32
life of a celebrity ladies and gentlemen he strategizes and manipulates as a as
39:38
as a subject matter expert you can't be good at everything right you if I go if I go to the grocery store and I want
39:43
like a healthy meal I'll just buy one of those microwave o the microphone didn't like
39:49
that I'll buy one of those microwaved like cups of like rice and quinoa and
39:54
and like the Sera tuna because I'm yeah yeah no there's no way you're getting John West I
40:00
just I just put the two of them together for me that's cooking if it's involves minimal preparation and not using the
40:08
like Heat or the oven then it's fine a microwave I can handle an oven is too
40:14
much listen I don't I don't I don't believe him he's manipulating us to make us feel sorry for I kind of feel like I want to cook him a meal yeah exactly
40:20
know a meal I don't know why I just I got to read the book make me a bunny ch
40:26
yeah they're [ __ ] good I've actually been talking to Lorraine about cooking bunny Chow lately what the [ __ ] is bunny Chow never heard of are you so
40:32
uncultured what the [ __ ] is bunny a very famous South African dish it's it's basically deep fried not deep fried but
40:38
fried bread yeah and um beef Curry Oh I thought you going to say bunnies yeah oh it's not [ __ ] bunnies we're not all
40:45
hunting with leaves over there everybody well when you're calling we get the bunnies out when you're calling bunny
40:50
bunny stew that's what of course yeah I get that yeah we yeah bunny Chow Curry bunnies we call them yeah they're
40:56
beautiful I [ __ ] cooked the best I cooked the best Curry yesterday [ __ ] best yeah was it a Durban Curry uh I
41:02
don't know if it's a Durban Curry it's my mom passed down yeah my mom's passed down beef me Cur with a potato in a wrap
41:09
a softer wrap we put in a softer wrap sour cream um some mixed lettuce you've
41:14
you've completely won me over oh [ __ ] you come around for dinner you obviously need a [ __ ]
41:20
meal uh I need to let's get on cuz you mention need to M my macaros let's look at let's look at uh I
41:27
just really want to touch on social media cuz obviously everyone's on social media what's your favorite app what are you looking at you on Tik Tok you on Instagram are you I have an Instagram um
41:34
but I made my Instagram after I filmed my first TV show um but it's it's in terms of fan engagement I'm on Instagram
41:41
what are you but what are you doing on Tik Tok or on Instagram are you going are you actually on social media are you look what's your what's your what comes
41:47
up on your for you page on my for you page or your real what are your reals on Instagram my my reals I've got no idea I
41:55
don't I'm I'm still bad with hold on the question is are you like present on social media in the I'm very present
42:00
yeah my Instagram @ King George of bankstown and Twitter @ King george2 but that's all I have I feel like you'd be
42:06
more I don't know and this is an assumption so tell me if I'm wrong but you'd be more present on Twitter or you tter no I I with Twitter i g with
42:15
Twitter I generally only tweet about TV stuff okay and engage in those kind of conversations with Instagram um it's
42:22
it's more about my life and what I'm doing okay but I am not a content creator okay
42:31
are you open and willing for people that are following you or fans of of yourself or at least listeners or whatever that
42:37
to to content that you do put out in terms of TV or whatever are you open for them to contact you to reach out to you
42:43
they do do you usually get people asking you advice things like that I always respond to my DMs if there's one thing
42:49
that you learn when you work in politics whether it's in an electorate office or on a campaign is that the people matter
42:56
and what's given me a career is fan engagement and long may it continue yeah
43:02
I love it okay well was there anything that you'd want to anything else you want to leave us with before you go besides obviously you got the book
43:07
you've been on the New York Post you've done multiple seasons of Survivor any life advice you know any motivational
43:13
quotes or anything like that I think the biggest motivational quote is for people to actually believe in themselves
43:20
because once you unlock that power good things happen but if you don't believe in yourself nobody else will CU that's
43:27
the energy that you'll project in any situation do you believe in manifestation not necessarily
43:33
manifestation I think there's more of a case of taking the ball by the horns and making things work for you and if
43:40
something's not working change what you're doing work out the problem come up with a better plan and put it into
43:45
practice and manipulate everybody manipulate put it into practice that's true I like that okay well the book How
43:51
to Win Friends and manipulate people is out now this uh do you have a quick tip for ulation one of the favorite tips in
43:57
this book I think it's what I just said it's beli in yourself and who is this who is this one
44:03
written for I mean if there's a specific person that this is written for someone that maybe might need help in career or
44:08
something like that I think it's written um it's written as an easy entertaining
44:14
read where there's an important story and lesson at the end of each chapter so
44:19
whether you want to hear detailed Survivor stories cuz there's a couple in there without getting into too much game
44:25
mechan um or where you have a practical example
44:31
um where I share a life experience and a lesson and then
44:36
cohesively um it's something that I think people can apply in their lives but when they read it they'll think it's
44:43
fun so you've manipulated people to be able to read the book all
44:48
the way through all the [ __ ] way do you know who I hate I hate academics God I hate academics they use
44:54
they use fancy words sometimes that academic got voted off as the second boot of Australian Survivor Titans V
44:59
Rebels I was like praise be who do you think is going to win the Survivor Series this year who knows but do you
45:06
know what's given me a lot of encouragement it's been such a good start I think this is one of the strongest starts we've ever had to a
45:11
strange Survivor and I can't wait to see what happens well Three Blind sides in three episodes I don't think that's been
45:16
done before yeah but it's just the manner of the blind sides and what what the people are valuing on the tribes
45:23
it's been just engrossing and entertaining and the game just elevated and then I said this on talking tribal
45:29
on 10 play this week that we're on the ninth season of Australian Survivor and
45:34
doing nothing and getting to the end isn't good enough anymore and to see these 24 new players come out guns
45:41
blazing and doing really well and making a really entertaining TV show is very exciting yeah very exciting well
45:47
